WHEN A CAPTAIN VEERS OFF HIS COURSE.
Nana Kwame Ampadu, Ɔdwontofuoɔhene, re in Peace. Nana Ampadu is dead! The tribute. In our everyday dispensation of life, we rely on others for our survival. No man is an island therefore, we make mistakes, hurt others, bring disrepute and denigrate people without knowing the harm we cause remotely.
My first encounter with Godsbrain Smart, popularly referred to as Captain Smart, was on Agyemang Prempeh Agyengo entertainment gh program on Rainbow radio after he was poached by Multimedia some 7 years ago for an interview.
I fell in love with him in terms of his answers to the questions posed by the host of the program. His eloquence, demeanor, sense of humor, in depth knowledge in the field he was going to occupy, and the witty stuff he is made of. He made an impact on Adom fm despite the controversies he created.
His appearance on Angel fm was greeted with splendor and candour. He brought innovations, entertainment and a new paradigm shift on radio programming and that was where he began to see himself as the "primus inter pares" that is the first among the equals. He started getting personal issues with some people especially the politicians, colleagues and finally, his employer with serious allegations and invectives.
He resurfaced at Onua tv which has brought them huge viewership, innovations and impressive productions. But for some of his effusions, insult laden presentations, non compliance to accord others the respect which he wished for himself, his self inflicted ego, he is a nice guy.
He says, he will never apologize to the Western Regional Minister for his faux pas on the Josephine Simons false pregnancy and kidnapping issue. Well in this world " wo yɛ wo ho barima pii a, yɛ kɔ akoo gya wo" to wit " you will be lost in a battle if you think you possess so much power". Life is there for all of us. Nana Ampadu koraa awu!
Captain Smart, dwene hwɛ kan, always think ahead na life is a labyrinth. Ntikuma na ɛguu Kwaku Ananse anim ase!
