Nigerian fans are divided on social media after fan-favourite Michelle Alozie was crowned the 'GOAT' of women's football ahead of 'Agba Baller' Asisat Oshoala.

Super Falcons of Nigeria stars Asisat Oshoala and Michelle Alozie have stirred up controversy on social media.

Oshoala and Alozie are arguably the two most popular Nigerian female footballers in the world.

Alozie made the headlines at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup having started every single game for the Super Falcons.

The 26-year-old winger, who was named as the sexiest Nigerian female footballer alive by Pulse Sports saw her social media following increase sporadically during the Australia and New Zealand showpiece in August.

Pulse Sports also reported that Oshoala became the first African female athlete to reach 1 million followers on Instagram, asserting her status as one of the biggest names in women’s football in the world.

Alozie has since continued to make the headlines over her glamorous posts on social media as the student doctor and football star’s rise continues.

This week, the stunning Super Falcons star returned to social media following a selfie post she made on Thursday in reference to a trending 2023 Afrobeats song - Ngozi by MAVIN superstars Crayon and Ayra Starr.

Alozie’s post was met with widespread reaction from fans on social media, who continued to admire her beautiful looks.

However, one comment which seemingly triggered fans came from one of the biggest football influencers on the X platform @UtdTrey who commented underneath the post: ‘The GOAT of women’s football’.

Trey’s comment further triggered reactions from fans who felt that title belonged to her Super Falcons teammate and five-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year Award winner Asisat Oshoala.

One user wrote: ‘Not her though’

Another user wrote: ‘Oshoala clears tbf’

Before another comment read: ‘Is Oshoala a joke to you?’
